Thoughts of a guest blogger

This is a guest post, courtesy one of my BEST Friend.. :-)

I just had a look at the right bottom of my laptop screen. Oh it's 15 minutes past 12 in the night. But why its bothering me. Clock is ticking and time is running. I even don't know what I am missing. But yes, definitely I know that I am missing something.

I guess I am not happy with what I am doing currently, but at the same time there are so many factors that wants me to continue this dragging. Why we surrender so easily to the things ? And always tend to follow the gen formula for success.

If you are at on site be there, and keep earning 40times, so called $$$ Factor. You can be happy every month end, seeing your growing bank balance (Indian terms) and new album(visit a new place) in your picasaweb, drive great car.

If you are at offshore or not satisfied, you can actually go for MBA. Its a combo world and Engineering degree + MBA is a fast seller these days.

If you are not of these type you can choose to do nothing and like Mumbai railway stations, you will reach the destination without the effort. You can become a manager, then other roles and finally C-Level.

But have you ever given a thought what exactly you want to do and are these things really helping you get there ? 5 Years towards the past and you can see that being a PM, used to be a big and prestigious thing. And now ?? If you have spent a specified amount of time in the Industry you are a PM. Do you really want to be in that category ??

Are you sure doing MBA will help you with, what you want to do ? I guess no, you will be in the hands of similar kind of leaders and will be part of supply chain. There is a demand of Business Analyst, pick up any MBA any stream and put them there. And since you need money at month end you will accept it and continue doing the same. You will do what your manager wants you to do. Then Why MBA ?? Kabhi Socha hai ??

That was related to the so called success formulas, coming back to the factors that are impairing our decision capabilities.

1) Being a guy/girl from middle class, Risk appetite is very less. We can't afford to loose what we have to gain what we want. It need balls to risk things and support your decisions.

2) You are not alone, your family always has a say in your decisions . The decisions which are not theirs also, but which someone has convinced them on evening tea somewhere. We need to understand now that there is a lot of different between the era of our parents and us. We should take our decisions ourselves and should convince our elders that we are doing correct things.

3) Peer pressure, we generally gets carried away by this factor. We never look at the larger picture in life. We see whats happening currently and respond to those calls without even thinking if we needed that or not. If one of out peer is quiting and joining a different firm and earning more. We have to do the same it hardly matters if we will get to do something we really want to. If some colleague is going to on site, we also want to go and have similar sort of (so called) fun. Doesn't even matter if we get to work in same tech/business domain.

I am getting the shutdown signals from my brain cause need to get up early tomorrow. MONDAY Blues.. Just final words, Do not get carried away with the things. Look around, keep watching.

World is Flat and we are players in that flat world. But idea of Flat world is given by some C-level employee. It is possible that this Flat world is sucked by some Black hole in near future, at that time you will have very less options.

Watch out and do things you really like to do. Pay for your mistakes, don't spend a dime for others.

But wht i wud say the factor 1 is the real culprit. When one puts life cmpletely on stake...he will really njoy the life...dats wht is needed..walk on razor's edge...dat will always give you an option to strive to achieve and when u achieve it ..dump it restart ur cycle..i hv met many of such kind of enterpreneurs :)
